Progression?

I find myself more and more unsettled with the seemingly uncontrollable "progression" of society.  What we are told is progressive and the proper direction of societal movement, to me seems to be a descent into a moral less state.  A state where even Christians aren't willing to stand up against immorality.  It is those that seek to preserve the moral society that are seen as the enemy.  The catch word "change" has been thrown around on both sides, by both candidates.  I wonder if change in necessarily what we need at all.  I'd prefer to go back to a day when not every home had a television in every room and unlimited access to the internet.  A time where we were not constantly inundated with sexual and violent images that are slowly desensitizing our society.  It may seem backward to some to long for these days, but I can't help it.  I have an unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach as I picture the United States in 20 years.  I'm sickened to imagine the future.  Only we have the power to slow the descent, if it is not already too late.

The problems we face are more than political concerns that can be solved by checking a box in November.  They are societal ills for which the cure is either non-existent or unknown.  As each person is molded to become more "tolerant", we slide further down the steep slope which might be impossible to ascend.  The President of the United States has no control, Congress has no control, and the Courts are powerless to stop it.  It is a problem greater than the men and women that hold these positions in our nation.

As a Christian tolerance and unconditional love for our fellow man is an important tenant.  However, to properly serve each other, we cannot sit by as they do wrong and act immorally.  The greatest gift we can give one another is honesty.  We as a nation, need to be honest with ourselves and each other about what direction we want the country to go in and take a hard look at where we are headed.
